Freeman Residence

While I was at Bohlin Cywinski Jackson designing cafes for Blue Bottle, the founders, James and Caitlin Freeman asked us to help them to quickly renovate their new home for their growing family. This incredible Queen Anne was sliding into neglect, and past renovations had diminished the details of a grand and ornate home.

Working very collaboratively with both the Freemans and Tomlinson Woodworks, we produced a suite of crisp box furniture using some favorite materials from James’ own Cafes. Some highlights included: the turntable and speaker cabinet, a growing wall of herbs in the kitchen, yellow and white office desks, and the piece de resistance! A seven foot diameter dining table supported on 13 legs. Each leg threaded into the top and adjustable to sit solidly on hundred year old floors.

Work performed while practicing at Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, San Francisco.
