This project is the transformation of a 1940s ranch house into a brighter, more cohesive home. Held between the site’s massive protected redwoods, a new second story with family bedrooms brings the family into the trees. Moving bedrooms from the ground floor allows us to open up what had been enclosed room into generous spaces for living, working, studying, cooking and dining together. The former primary bedroom suite becomes a connected J-ADU guest suite and home office retreat.
