Redwood Deck

My parents needed a deck, but their garden isn’t that big. Something attached to the building would have been expensive and time consuming. They like working in the garden, what they really wanted was somewhere low to take a break and layout gardening tools, pot plants, snack and drink tea.

I wanted to build it myself, I had a week off over the winter holidays. To make things quick, everything could be cut and put together with a circular saw and a screwgun. I used redwood because even though the weather is mild, I wanted to make something easy to maintain. 

Throwing a blanket out, the raised platform is a perfect place to appreciate the garden. The frame is perfect for a hammock for one or two to enjoy. When the shutdown happened in 2020, it was a perfect place to eat outside.
